Gregory Award 2017

The Society of American Foresters is excited to begin accepting applications for the 2017 Gregory Award. The Gregory Award seeks to mark the achievements of Bob and Ann Gregory and further their interest in international relations by providing economic assistance to outstanding students or professionals from outside of the US and Canada to attend the Society of American Foresters Convention and have meaningful engagement with foresters on the North American continent. Thanks to the continued generosity of the Gregory family and SAF members, this award has been expanded to bring two promising individuals to the SAF Convention each year.
This year’s convention will take place in Albuquerque, New Mexico on November 15-19. The award includes complimentary registration and $2,000 (US dollars) that may be utilized for travel, lodging, and tickets to SAF convention events or technical field tours. SAF will work with successful applicants to allocate the funds in the most useful manner. The deadline to apply is May 8, 2017. The application is attached. (Mike) Wingfield, IUFRO President, on behalf of the International Council and the current Board of the International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO) invites to nominate potential candidates to serve as members of the IUFRO Board. Polish National IUFRO Committee

Activity of the Polish National IUFRO Committee in 2014.
Polish National IUFRO (International Union of Forest Research Organizations) Committee operates in the framework of the Forest Sciences and Wood Technology Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences. It consists of persons delegated by scientific institutions belonging to IUFRO and persons performing various functions within the Organization. The scope of activities of the Polish National IUFRO Committee is the inspiration and coordination of activities related to participation in this organization and to stimulation of activity in various forms of international meetings (symposia, conferences, etc.).
The Chairman of the PNC IUFRO is professor Maciej Skorupski (Forestry Faculty of the Poznan University of Life Sciences).
In October 2014, XXIV World IUFRO Congress was held in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA. During the Congress a new president of the organization was elected, as well as the International IUFRO Council. As a result of the elections, Polish delegates to the International Council were alected for the 2015-2018 term: prof. Piotr Paschalis-Jakubowicz (Warsaw University of Life Sciences - SGGW) and his deputy - prof. Stanisław Małek (University of Agriculture in Kraków).
